Customer Spotlight - Steve Tauriello - President of the Las Vegas Bass Club - New Skeeter ZX225 Tournament Bass Boat Owner
“Steve Tauriello, an avid fisherman since the young age of 6, has been a leading force in the bass fishing scene in Nevada. The craze began with his father, and as a young boy, he developed the passion which continued through his life, constantly striving to improve. Steve and his father fished the Gulf of Mexico up until 1997 when he made a move to Nevada. “I stopped fishing when I got to Nevada because I didn’t think there would be any fish” stated jokingly by Steve. Little did he know, he was about to embark on the most significant bass fishing of his life.
A short time into his new location, a fellow employee informed Steve that he was the President of the Las Vegas Bass Club, so he decided to investigate. A few years went by, and Steve found himself at the presidential seat of the Las Vegas Bass Club for eight years. Steve explains, “I got into tournament bass fishing at that time and had the bug ever since.” At his presidential role, Steve knew he needed a boat of his own, so he found a 1987 Skeeter which he purchased and kept for eight years. “I competed against the “big boys” of the circuit, even with an aging Skeeter,” said Steve.
When it came time for an upgrade, Steve knew he would stick with the Skeeter line. “I wanted to buy a new boat and the wife was tired of hearing me complain about it so she said I could get one! Only took two years to convince her!”. Shortly after the okay from his wife, Steve started his search. Out of the blue, Steve got a call from Greg Espinoza at Boulder Boats with some great news. Boulder Boats had picked up the Skeeter brand at the beginning of 2018 and was starting its fishing division. Later that week, Steve had an order in for a boat that wasn’t even on the lot. “The best part about my Skeeter ZX225 is the storage and the Yamaha motor. There is plenty of room for all my gear. There is so much power behind the boat while remaining so quiet. Not to mention the color RED!” Once the boat arrived, Steve hurried to the dealership to pick up the first Skeeter from Boulder Boats.
After purchasing a new Skeeter, this was the start of a prominent relationship, between Steve and Greg. “Greg is a cool dude, and he asked me to do a tournament with him, which I said yes. In our first tournament, we finished in 4th place, the team was on!” explained Steve. From there, Steve and Greg have toured across the southwest participating in bass fishing tournaments. They both look forward to the upcoming season, and Steve will prepare more success in his Skeeter.
