Cooking on a boat is an unexpectedly difficult task. Unlike at home, space is limited, and you can’t pop over to the grocery store to grab a last-minute ingredient. However, cooking on a boat is possible, and much appreciated after a long day of fishing, swimming, and diving into blue waters. To master the difficult art of cooking on board a boat, we recommend checking out our tips below.

Prep

To successfully enjoy a nice meal on your boat, you’ll need to prep and plan your meal before you leave the dock. Make sure you know exactly what you’d like to eat, how many people you’re feeding, and the ingredients you’ll need to bring aboard. Space and storage on a boat can be limited, so we recommend trying to keep meals simple and straightforward.

Utensils

To successfully cook and serve food on a boat you’ll need a variety of different tools and equipment. Make sure you have enough plates, utensils, and cups for each of your passengers, and that you have enough space in your cooler to hold both your ingredients and drinks for you and your passengers. While tools can vary depending on the meal you’re preparing, you’ll likely need to bring a kitchen knife, cutting board, and pan to cook your meal, as well as a portable hot plate or grill as a heat source.
